Pastimes is an exhibition inspired by the diversity and creativity of student activities from The Glasgow School of Art’s history.
As part of an internship funded by the Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities, PhD students Kiah Endelman Music and Molly McCracken have selected a variety of items from The GSA Archives and Collections that offer a rich, behind-the-scenes history of the School, spanning over one hundred years.
The exhibition reflects on the wide-ranging contributions GSA students have made to student life, the arts, and the wider Glasgow community, far beyond their official courses of study.
From fundraising initiatives to costumed balls, early pioneers of filmmaking to literary publications, the items on display showcase the enduring influence and lasting contribution students have made to The GSA, even in the brief span of their studies.
Pastimes opens on Friday 28th July 2023 (invite only) in the Window on Heritage visitor centre in The Glasgow School of Art’s Reid Building. It is then open to the public from Monday 31st July to Friday 11th August inclusive (Mon to Fri), then Fridays only until 22nd September inclusive.
