Fraser Taylor and The Cloth
Fraser Taylor graduated from The Glasgow School of Art with a Bachelor of Art degree in printed textiles in 1981 and went on to study for a Master of Fine Art at the Royal College of Art in London. Here he met and collaborated with fellow RCA students David Band, Brian Bolger and Helen Manning to form The Cloth, a highly successful design studio.
In 2014 Taylor donated an archive of material relating to his student work (at GSA and RCA) and to the work of The Cloth.
In 2015 £1250 was secured from The Textile Society to catalogue this material and in 2019 Dr Helena Britt was awarded Leverhulme Trust funding for a project relating to this collection: The Cloth: Exploring Creative Collaboration and Interdisciplinarity, 1977-87.
