Bound in volume, The Magazine, November 1894. 'Behind a stylised tree stands another of Mackintosh's mysterious female figures, but this is the first one to appear that is not meticulously drawn. Only the head is shown in any detail, and the shape of the body is hidden by a voluminous cloak from which not even its limbs appear. This figure was to be repeated many times, becoming more and more stereotyped until, with the banners designed for the Turin Exhibition in 1902, the head is the only recognisably human part of a figure with a twelve-foot long, pear shaped torso. In 1895-96, Mackintosh was to develop this drawing into a poster for the Scottish Musical Review (Howarth, p1, 9F). The same cloaked figure appears with similar formal emblems at the ends of the branches of the bush.' (Roger Billcliffe).

Designed for the Director's Room, Glasgow School of Art. Twelve chairs were made in 1904 for the GSA, but William Davidson acquired a further two, with six of MC/F/58 for use as dining chairs in the hall at Windyhill. Twelve chairs reupholstered in brown horsehair 1984. One chair on loan from Glasgow University, returned 1984. These items were assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).

The 1978 Fashion Show was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre from the 24th to 28th April 1978. The film comprises a combination of still images and film footage of students preparing for the show behind the scenes, and modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes include metallic fabrics, sportswear, bodysuits and off-the-shoulder dresses. Children’s clothes were also modelled in the show although these are not shown in the film. Garments were designed and modelled mostly by students or former students. Indigo Designs also designed evening dresses for the show. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: 1st year; Embroidery and Weaving; Textiles; and Graphics. Hair was by the Hely Design Group and shoes were from Ravel. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured ruched fabric backdrop. The exact date and location of the 1982 fashion show are unknown.  Other shows held around this time were however held in the spring, and in the Assembly building or in the Assembly Hall of the Bourdon Building. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include rainbow, futuristic, Oriental, Egyptian, ballgowns, stripes, geometry, hats, formal, off-the-shoulder, utility wear, white, accessories, metallic, fantasy, swimwear. The show also features an extravagant period ballgown, designed by Kenny McLellan, which was subsequently shown at the “Young Blood” exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, in November 1983 to January 1984. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured fabric backdrop. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The film comprises images of the fashion show poster, followed by footage of the audience arriving at the venue and students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include music, pastels, metallic, rainbow, wedding, hats, white, bright colours, jewellery, off-the-shoulder, flamenco. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of large musical notes and staves, plus piano keyboards. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Fine Art; Sculpture; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of a black background with white symbols. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1986 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Hall from 10th to 15th March 1986. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include Egyptian, metallic, wedding, Queen of Hearts, cloaks, formalwear, masks, hats, bright colours, geometry, flamboyant, utility wear. There is also a dress made from Benson and Hedges cigarette packets – the model wearing this dress is smoking on stage. There were also a number of Harris Tweed garments in the show as Harris Tweed ran a design competition that year. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Silversmithing and Jewellery; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. It is believed that this show had a mix of professional models and students. The models were less experienced models from agencies. The set for the show consisted of a garage workshop setting with car and motor parts at the rear and sides of the stage. It was designed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The hair for this show was by Taylor Ferguson. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The long text by Mackintosh which accompanies this watercolour in The Magazine (reproduced in full in Billcliffe's catalogue) suggests that he had already encountered public hostility to his work, possibly even from fellow students, on the grounds of incomprehensibility.

One item was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014 and was conserved in 2018-19.

This poster advertised an exhibition of photography held in the Victoria Cafe from the 9th to the 20th of October 1978. Exhibiting in this show were a number of artists including: Elizabeth Urquhart, Ray McKenzie, Douglas Bryce, Chris Webster, Denis Crossan and Jack Fordy. The Victoria Cafe, where the show was held, was part of the original student union across from the Mackintosh building on GSA campus. The name "Douglas R. Bryce Graphics '78" is handwritten on the back of the poster.

This poster promoted an exhibition in London showcasing embroidery and weaving work from The Glasgow School of Art. The exhibition was held in the Embroiders Guild on 73 Wimpole Street London, with a private view "tea party" for the event held on Sunday the 4th November 1979. The exhibition itself was open from the 5th to the 29th of November 1979.

This poster advertised a series of exhibitions featuring the work of contemporary artists from the province of Ontario in Canada. The exhibitions were organised by Visual Arts Ontario and were held in the Mackintosh Museum and the Newbery Gallery within The Glasgow School Of Art campus from the 25th February to the 22nd March 1985.

This poster advertised the degree show exhibition for the MA Design class of 1985. Exhibiting were designers Willie Aitken, Janice Kirkpatrick, Adele Patrick, Heather McMurchie, Gary Morgan and Ian Roberts. The exhibition was held at The Glasgow School Of Art.

The Glasgow School Of Art Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus. The show ran once per day from the 11th to the 16th of March 1985. This poster advertised an exhibition of work from The Private Press Movement with pieces ranging from the work of William Morris to the work of modern day artists. The exhibition was held in The Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh Museum and ran from the 1st to the 12th of May 1973.

This poster advertised an event held in the staff lounge at The Glasgow School Of Art in honour of maintenance staff member Bob Mitchell. The poster features a caricature of Bob Mitchell illustrated by Danny Ferguson who was a lecturer at The Glasgow School Of Art. Although his main duty was maintaining the school's boiler system, Mitchell was also a reliable handy man. He is credited for constructing huge billboards which were errected in front of The Glasgow School Of Art's Newbery Tower to advertise events happening during Activities Week. These various talks and events were advertised on large scale posters, many of which can now be found in The Glasgow School Of Art's poster collection.

This poster advertised screenings of the films 'Midnight Cowboy' and 'The Connection' which took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre within The Glasgow School Of Art from the 12th of April to the 4th May 1990. Tickets for the event were priced at 30p per screening or £1 for five screenings.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by Barry Atherton which was held in The Glasgow School Of Art's Mackintosh Museum from the 10th to the 28th of September 1984. Atherton had previously been a first year fine art lecturer from 1974 to 1975. The reverse of the poster is annotated and says "Ian Monie - Library".
