Biographical history

Frank McElhinney was born in Motherwell, Scotland, and grew up in East Kilbride where his family moved in 1966. He studied Fine Art Photography at the Glasgow School of Art after a twenty year career in manufacturing. Immediately after graduation in 2014 he won first prize in the Jill Todd Photographic Award. Since then he has exhibited exhibited in Lithuania, China and throughout the United Kingdom. His first degree was in Medieval and Modern History and his photographic practice uses history as material for exploring contemporary issues such as migration, nationhood and urbanism.
