Project

Studio 39

Following on from the Digital Laocoön project, a second project between The Glasgow School of Art and ISOdesign explored developing an immersive, story-driven VR experience around the restoration, and subsequent destruction, of sculptural casts within the Mackintosh Building.

With funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the team created an interactive proof-of-concept demonstration to explore the feasibility of delivering a range of archival assets (3D object scans, images, digital documents, architectural models) within a virtual space – Studio 39.

The assets required for the demo of Studio 39 came mainly from the Archives and Collections. Through a user-centred, co-design approach with schoolchildren, the team developed a series of immersive interactive spaces where school children could explore the history of The Glasgow School of Art.
