This is a poster for the 3rd year Textiles Fashion Show held at 7pm and 9pm each night from 8th-9th Mar 2011 . The event was accompanied by a boutique and secret postcard sale with an aftershow party held at the Buff Club. The event was sponsored by Mandors Fabric Store, Buchanan Galleries shopping centre, PRI and Mash amplification. One of the themes of this year's fashion show was the Newbery Tower, which was due for demolition during the School's summer vacation in 2011. The Archives also hold digital images of the secret postcard sale, which involved the selling of postcards created by past and present students on the theme of the Newbery Tower.

The 1985 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Building from 11th to 16th March 1985. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include African, Oriental, Egyptian, hats, bright colours, white, geometry, metallic, sleeves, fruit, accessories, Greek, graphics. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Fine Art; Sculpture; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of a black background with white symbols. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1978 Fashion Show was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre from the 24th to 28th April 1978. The film comprises a combination of still images and film footage of students preparing for the show behind the scenes, and modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes include metallic fabrics, sportswear, bodysuits and off-the-shoulder dresses. Children’s clothes were also modelled in the show although these are not shown in the film. Garments were designed and modelled mostly by students or former students. Indigo Designs also designed evening dresses for the show. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: 1st year; Embroidery and Weaving; Textiles; and Graphics. Hair was by the Hely Design Group and shoes were from Ravel. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured ruched fabric backdrop. The 1986 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Hall from 10th to 15th March 1986. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include Egyptian, metallic, wedding, Queen of Hearts, cloaks, formalwear, masks, hats, bright colours, geometry, flamboyant, utility wear. There is also a dress made from Benson and Hedges cigarette packets – the model wearing this dress is smoking on stage. There were also a number of Harris Tweed garments in the show as Harris Tweed ran a design competition that year. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Silversmithing and Jewellery; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. It is believed that this show had a mix of professional models and students. The models were less experienced models from agencies. The set for the show consisted of a garage workshop setting with car and motor parts at the rear and sides of the stage. It was designed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The hair for this show was by Taylor Ferguson. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The film comprises images of the fashion show poster, followed by footage of the audience arriving at the venue and students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include music, pastels, metallic, rainbow, wedding, hats, white, bright colours, jewellery, off-the-shoulder, flamenco. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of large musical notes and staves, plus piano keyboards. It was designed and built by Minty Donald and Jean Cameron. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include rainbow, futuristic, Oriental, Egyptian, ballgowns, stripes, geometry, hats, formal, off-the-shoulder, utility wear, white, accessories, metallic, fantasy, swimwear. The show also features an extravagant period ballgown, designed by Kenny McLellan, which was subsequently shown at the “Young Blood” exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, in November 1983 to January 1984. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured fabric backdrop. This poster advertised a screening of Sam Peckinpah's 1974 film 'Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia', and Kevin Brownlow and Andrew Mollo's 1966 film 'It Happened Here'. The event was organised by The Glasgow School Of Art Film Society and was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on The Glasgow School Of Art campus on the 3rd of May. The reverse of the poster is annotated with "Chris Webster Graphics 1979".

This poster advertised a series of lectures that were held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on the 18th of February. The talks provided students with advice about life after graduation.

This poster advertised The Glasgow School Of Art's dramatisation of Somerset Maugham's play The Noble Spaniard. This event was held at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

This poster advertised a lecture given by architect, teacher and writer Cedric Price. Price was known for his eccentric architectural designs that were perceived as both socially enabling and playful. The lecture was held in the Haldane Building at The Glasgow School Of Art on the 10th of February.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by John Macfarlane who was a student at The Glasgow School Of Art before moving to Wales to work as a set and costume designer. The exhibition was held in the Bourdon building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus from the 5th to the 18th of December 1979. Interestingly, John Macfarlane's name has been misspelled on the poster where his surname has been spelled as 'McFarlane'.

This poster advertised a lecture by economist Brian Griffiths which was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre at The Glasgow School Of Art in December 1972. At this time, Griffiths worked as lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science, however he would later become advisor to Baroness Thatcher during her time as Prime Minister. He then became the Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs. This lecture focused on the topic of Christianity, capitalism and revolution and was organised by David Dobson who was head of the Sculpture department at The Glasgow School Of Art in 1972.

This poster advertised the retirement party of William Drummond Bone which was held in the Mackintosh Board Room on the 12th of January 1973. Bone was part of both The Royal Society of Arts and The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and taught drawing and painting at The Glasgow School Of Art between 1934 and 1973. The poster was designed and printed by Robert Stewart who was a senior lecturer in design at this time.

This poster appears to advertise a lecture and discussion by Dendler, Dendler and Dunlop which took place on Wednesday the 9th of December. The poster is annotated with ‘Sandy Prentice processed by Chuck Mitchell’.

Screening were documentaries about artists including Mackintosh, Rousseau, Klee, McLaren, Giacometti, Hamilton, Paolozzi, Jones, Kitaj, Bosch and Spencer as well as a film entitled 'A Short Vision'. This section screenprinted in CMYK inks using both drawn elements and half dot images.

Wylie is known for his monochrome photography work and has taught at both University of the Arts in London and Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

This poster advertised screenings of the films 'Midnight Cowboy' and 'The Connection' which took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre within The Glasgow School Of Art from the 12th of April to the 4th May 1990. Tickets for the event were priced at 30p per screening or £1 for five screenings.

This poster advertised a series of lectures that took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre at The Glasgow School Of Art from the 19th of January to the 9th of March 1994. These lectures were part of the Enterprise In Higher Education Business Awareness Programme. This poster advertised a lecture given by Marina Von Salem on the Die Brücke movement, an artistic movement created by a number of German expressionist artists in the early 20th century. Die Brücke is German for 'The Bridge' and the movement was refered to as "The German expressionist bridge to the future".

This poster advertised a lecture by artist John Wright which was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre. The lecture centred around Wright's travels across the Sahara to Tassili and his colour slides of the journey.

The lecture was held in the Newbery staff lounge in the Newbery Tower at The Glasgow School Of Art on Wednesday the 25th of October. The poster also advertised a film competition that would take place during the art school's activities week.

This poster advertised a lecture given by illustrator and animator Bob Godfrey. Godfrey is famous for his animated cartoons including Roobarb, Noah and Nelly and Henry's Cat. The lecture was held on the 30th of May 1979 and part of it involved Godfrey offering to critique the student's own films.

This poster advertised a lecture given by architecture critic Rayner Banham which was held in the Haldane Building on the 21st of February 1962. Banham was also a prolific writer and is best known for his theoretical treatise 'Theory and Design in the First Machine Age' (1960) and for his book 'Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies' (1971). The poster states "Come on babey, do the mega structure" which is a pun on the 1962 pop song 'Loco-Motion' by Eva Boyd.

Bob Godfrey is best known for his animated cartoons such as Roobarb and Custard and Henry's Cat. Joe McGrath is a Scottish director famous for his films Casino Royal and The Magic Christian. The entire poster would have been one of many displayed on huge billboards on Renfrew Street to advertise events happening during each of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual activities weeks.
