Designs for embroidered textiles

Painted designs on coloured paper for embroidered textiles. Includes two designs for tea cosies; two designs possibly for cushions; a design showing three cats; and two designs using black and white geometric shapes. Some of the designs appear in the illustrations folder for Dorothy Smith's 'Designing for Embroidery'.

Details of successful schemes

Originally a total of 14 housing associations and a development trust had been included in the application. Following the rejection of funding by the Millennium Commission only the 12 projects that were judged to have the best chance of funding from other sources were put forward. The principle alternative source of funding that were identified was Scottish Homes. The project finally proceeded with eleven schemes after Faifley withdrew. These folders contain drawings produced by Harry Anthony Wheeler when he travelled to Italy after being awarded the John Keppie Scholarship in 1948. The John Keppie Scholarship gave a bursary of £100 to one architecture student per year to fund a study trip of their choice. The focus of Wheeler's project was Loggias in Florence, Rome and Venice.
