The 1984 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Building from 30th April to 5th May 1984. The film comprises images of the fashion show poster, followed by footage of the audience arriving at the venue and students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include music, pastels, metallic, rainbow, wedding, hats, white, bright colours, jewellery, off-the-shoulder, flamenco. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of large musical notes and staves, plus piano keyboards. It was designed and built by Minty Donald and Jean Cameron. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Fine Art; Sculpture; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of a black background with white symbols. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1986 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Hall from 10th to 15th March 1986. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include Egyptian, metallic, wedding, Queen of Hearts, cloaks, formalwear, masks, hats, bright colours, geometry, flamboyant, utility wear. There is also a dress made from Benson and Hedges cigarette packets – the model wearing this dress is smoking on stage. There were also a number of Harris Tweed garments in the show as Harris Tweed ran a design competition that year. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Silversmithing and Jewellery; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. It is believed that this show had a mix of professional models and students. The models were less experienced models from agencies. The set for the show consisted of a garage workshop setting with car and motor parts at the rear and sides of the stage. It was designed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The hair for this show was by Taylor Ferguson. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. A catalogue of the G W Lennox Paterson Retrospective Exhibition, which ran from 22 November to 20 December, 1979. Includes an introduction written by Gordon Huntly and a list of works.

This poster advertised an exhibition which showcased the work of graduating postgraduate fine art students from 1988. Exhibitors included David Bowe, Jillian Campbell, Kathy Chambers, Kirstie Cohen, Matthew N. Dalziel, Mark Durden, Peter Finnemore, Steven Hurrel, Evelyn Jardine, Simon C. Laurie, Olivia Lloyd, Maree Meahan, Iona A. E. Montgomery, Ann Vance, Alison Watt and Eveleen Wright. The exhibition was held in the Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School Of Art from the 18th to the 23rd of June 1988. The poster was designed at the school and features a photograph of the exhibitors sitting on top of The Glasgow School Of Art's Bourdon Building which was taken by Stanley C. Shepherd.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by postgraduate fine art students in 1985. The exhibition was held in the Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School Of Art and included work by students studying drawing and painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and stained glass. The exhibition ran from the 14th to the 20th of June and the image on the poster shows the exhibiting students. The photograph was taken by H. Kerr and was printed at David J. Clark Limited.

This poster advertised The Glasgow School Of Art's annual degree show in 1985. The degree show included work by graduating students studying drawing and painting, photography, printmaking, murals, stained glass and sculpture. The image on the poster shows the exhibitors standing in the Mackintosh Museum and in the mezzanine space in the centre of the Mackintosh Building. The photograph was taken by Vaughan Judge who was a previous lecturer at The Glasgow School Of Art. The poster was designed at the school and printed by David J Clark Limited.

The exhibition toured a number of venues, namely Rome, Glasgow, Billingham, Berkshire, Dublin and Vienna between 1983 and 1985. This poster advertised an exhibition that was to be the first of a number of annual exhibitions showcasing the work of students from the School Of Fine Art. The exhibition was held in The Mackintosh Museum and ran from the 30th of January to the 7th of February 1987. The poster was designed by John Shankie who would later become a technician for the masters of fine art course. There are two copies of this poster in the collection, both with the same reference number.

Stewart graduated with an undergraduate degree in drawing and painting in 1988 and is included in the photograph on this poster. He then went on to do a Masters in 1990. This poster advertised a retrospective exhibition of work by Bob Stewart which ran between the 4th and the 31st of October 1980 at The University Of Strathclyde. Stewart is a leading figure in The Glasgow School Of Art's history. His role progressed from lecturing in textiles to Head of Design before he became Deputy Director of the school. He was highly regarded by staff and students and also designed and printed many of the posters in The Glasgow School Of Art's poster collection.

This poster advertised a memorial exhibition to celebrate the work of William Gallacher. The event took place at The Glasgow Art Club between the 10th and the 30th of November 1979. The poster was printed by Bob Stewart who was a senior lecturer at The Glasgow School Of Art at this time.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by John McFarlane who was a student at The Glasgow School Of Art before moving to Wales to work as a set and costume designer. The exhibition was held in the Bourdon building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus from the 5th to the 18th of December 1979. Interestingly, John Macfarlane's name has been misspelled on the poster where his surname has been spelled as 'McFarlane'.

This poster advertised an exhibition of drawings by Bridget Riley which was held in the Newbery staff lounge in the Newbery Tower at The Glasgow School of Art as part of the school's annual activities week. Riley is well known for her optical illusion paintings and is considered a leading figure in Op Art. During activities week, large bill boards on Renfrew Street displayed posters made by staff and students that advertised the week's events. Many of these posters can now be found in The Glasgow School Of Art's Poster Collection. An image of this particular poster can be found in the 1973/74 prospectus catalogue on page 21.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by the Scottish cartoonist Bud Neill. Neill studied at The Glasgow School of Art and is known for his cartoon strips which featured in a number of Glasgow newspapers. His work often played on Glasgow humour, with notable characters such as Lobey Dosser and the Sheriff of Carlton Creek. The exhibition was held in the Newbery Lounge in the Newbery Tower at The Glasgow School Of Art. The exhibition title refers to Isaac Wolfson who was a Scottish business man and philanthropist known for his successful mail order service.

This poster advertised various events happening during The Glasgow School Of Art's activities week in 1971. The poster details a number of film screenings and talks which took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre. Other events included visits to the National Engineering Laboratory in East Kilbride and to an exhibition of prints by the London based printmaking organisation Editions Alecto. There was also an exhibition of work by John McInnes which was held in the Mackintosh Museum.

The event was held in the Centre for Contemporary Arts which is an arts centre close to The Glasgow School Of Art campus. Exhibitors included Natalie McFadyen, James Hodgson, Ruth Legg, Kate Drummond - Brassington, Mark Melvin, Will Holt, Michelle Daniels, Ruth Davies, John Barrington, Henry Coombes, Nicola Godsal, Mari Lagerquist, Martin Craig, Hannah Palmer, Dan Miller, Grethe Forsstrom, Laura Marshall, Kate Burton and Astrid Kruse Jensen.

This poster advertised The Glasgow School Of Art's annual degree show which showcased the work of graduating students in 2002. Undergraduate students exhibited on campus while the Masters of Fine Art students exhibited at local arts centre Tramway. The exhibition ran from the 22nd to the 29th of June and had a number of sponsors including Ziper Beer, McGrigor Donald, Gordon Yuill and Company, BD-Tank and the Centre for Contemporary Arts.

The exhibition was curated by Cliff Bowen who worked as a sculpture lecturer from 1973 until 1978. It was held in The Glasgow School Of Art's Newbery Gallery in the Newbery Tower from the 4th of August until the 1st of September and was sponsored by the Ian McTaggart Trust.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by second year printmaking students from The Glasgow School Of Art. The exhibition was held in the Market Gallery on Duke Street in Glasgow and ran from the 1st to the 8th of March. It was sponsored by the Reidvale Housing Association.

The exhibition of twenty Mackintosh chairs from the Glasgow School of Art's collection formed part of the opening celebrations at Norway’s newest cultural attraction, the Jugenstilsenteret (Art Nouveau Centre), in Ålesund, from the 6th June to 12th Oct 2003. Similar to Glasgow, this city is one of the founding partners of the EU-funded Réseau Art Nouveau Network. The School’s contribution was hoped to inspire further cultural and artistic ties between the two countries.

This poster advertised an exhibition of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh in 1983 at the Fine Art Society, 134 Blythswood Street, Glasgow, which ran from 24 Aug to 26 Sep 1983. Entitled 'The 1933 Memorial Exhibition: A Reconstruction', it was part of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society's 10th Anniversary Celebrations (1973-1983). The poster features a watercolour painting of a flower in lilac, white and black paint.

In 1988, a Mackintosh architecture exhibition opened in Certaldo in Tuscany, Italy. It was organised by Comune di Certaldo in Palazzo Vicariale di Certaldo from 31st July to 30th September. A book was published by Electa Firenze about the exhibition including images of architectural drawings, photographs, sketches and paintings. This image is of a blue, beige, and black coloured architectural drawing.

This poster is for an exhibition of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's lost furniture from the Glasgow School of Art in association with the Glasgow Herald. The poster features Miss Kate Cranston's bedroom suite, which Mackintosh designed in 1904.

This poster depicts a portrait of the artist with pink and blue fonts on a white background. It advertises a touring exhibition of the work of Jessie M. King, who is known for her book illustrations and paintings which are very much associated with the Glasgow Style. Known as one of the Glasgow Girls, the exhibition of King's work in 1979 marked the 20th anniversary of her death and was first shown at the Tolbooth Art Centre on Hill Street, Kirkcudbright from 4th June to 18th July. Later that same year, the exhibition was held at the Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh Building from 27th July to 3rd September. The exhibition itself was sponsored by the Robertson Trust, The N.S. Macfarlane Trust and the Glasgow School of Art Enterprises.

Held in the Miezsznorodowego Cultural Centre in Krakow, Poland, the exhibition ran from the 18th of September to 31st of October 1996 and was arranged by the British Council of Poland, with sponsorship from the Polish Airlines Cargo.
