The 1978 Fashion Show was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre from the 24th to 28th April 1978. The film comprises a combination of still images and film footage of students preparing for the show behind the scenes, and modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes include metallic fabrics, sportswear, bodysuits and off-the-shoulder dresses. Children’s clothes were also modelled in the show although these are not shown in the film. Garments were designed and modelled mostly by students or former students. Indigo Designs also designed evening dresses for the show. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: 1st year; Embroidery and Weaving; Textiles; and Graphics. Hair was by the Hely Design Group and shoes were from Ravel. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured ruched fabric backdrop. The exact date and location of the 1982 fashion show are unknown.  Other shows held around this time were however held in the spring, and in the Assembly building or in the Assembly Hall of the Bourdon Building. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include rainbow, futuristic, Oriental, Egyptian, ballgowns, stripes, geometry, hats, formal, off-the-shoulder, utility wear, white, accessories, metallic, fantasy, swimwear. The show also features an extravagant period ballgown, designed by Kenny McLellan, which was subsequently shown at the “Young Blood” exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, in November 1983 to January 1984. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured fabric backdrop. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1984 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Building from 30th April to 5th May 1984. The film comprises images of the fashion show poster, followed by footage of the audience arriving at the venue and students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include music, pastels, metallic, rainbow, wedding, hats, white, bright colours, jewellery, off-the-shoulder, flamenco. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of large musical notes and staves, plus piano keyboards. It was designed and built by Minty Donald and Jean Cameron. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include African, Oriental, Egyptian, hats, bright colours, white, geometry, metallic, sleeves, fruit, accessories, Greek, graphics. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Fine Art; Sculpture; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. The set for the show consisted of a black background with white symbols. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1986 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Hall from 10th to 15th March 1986. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include Egyptian, metallic, wedding, Queen of Hearts, cloaks, formalwear, masks, hats, bright colours, geometry, flamboyant, utility wear. There is also a dress made from Benson and Hedges cigarette packets – the model wearing this dress is smoking on stage. There were also a number of Harris Tweed garments in the show as Harris Tweed ran a design competition that year. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Silversmithing and Jewellery; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. It is believed that this show had a mix of professional models and students. The models were less experienced models from agencies. The set for the show consisted of a garage workshop setting with car and motor parts at the rear and sides of the stage. It was designed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The hair for this show was by Taylor Ferguson. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. Acknowledgement of a cheque.

This poster advertised an exhibition of photography held in the Victoria Cafe from the 9th to the 20th of October 1978. Exhibiting in this show were a number of artists including: Elizabeth Urquhart, Ray McKenzie, Douglas Bryce, Chris Webster, Denis Crossan and Jack Fordy. The Victoria Cafe, where the show was held, was part of the original student union across from the Mackintosh building on GSA campus. The name "Douglas R. Bryce Graphics '78" is handwritten on the back of the poster.

This poster advertised an event held in the staff lounge at The Glasgow School Of Art in honour of maintenance staff member Bob Mitchell. The poster features a caricature of Bob Mitchell illustrated by Danny Ferguson who was a lecturer at The Glasgow School Of Art. Although his main duty was maintaining the school's boiler system, Mitchell was also a reliable handy man. He is credited for constructing huge billboards which were errected in front of The Glasgow School Of Art's Newbery Tower to advertise events happening during Activities Week. These various talks and events were advertised on large scale posters, many of which can now be found in The Glasgow School Of Art's poster collection.

This poster advertised The Glasgow School Of Art's 1974 fashion show which was held in the Mackintosh Building between the 18th and the 22nd of March.

This poster advertised a lecture given by architect, teacher and writer Cedric Price. Price was known for his eccentric architectural designs that were perceived as both socially enabling and playful. The lecture was held in the Haldane Building at The Glasgow School Of Art on the 10th of February.

This poster advertised a lecture given by the photographer Gus Wylie which was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on the 12th of November 1986. Wylie is known for his monochrome photography work and has taught at both University of the Arts in London and Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. On the reverse of the poster is written "Bob Stewart" in pencil.

This poster advertised a lecture given by Marina Von Salem on the Die Brücke movement, an artistic movement created by a number of German expressionist artists in the early 20th century. Die Brücke is German for 'The Bridge' and the movement was refered to as "The German expressionist bridge to the future".

This poster advertised a lecture given by well known artist David Hockney which was held in the Haldane building at The Glasgow School Of Art on Thursday the 24th of February.

This poster advertised a lecture given by the American scholar Theodore Roszak on his book entitled 'The Making of a Counter Culture'. The text examines 1960s counterculture in North America and Europe and is credited as one of the first examples of the term counterculture. In this lecture held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre at The Glasgow School Of Art, Roszak discussed the theme of "Conscience and the Consciousness in Art". The word "Villa" is written on the reverse of the poster in pencil.

This poster advertised a lecture by artist John Wright which was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre. The lecture centred around Wright's travels across the Sahara to Tassili and his colour slides of the journey.

This poster advertised a lecture given by the eccentric sculptor and actor Bruce Lacey. Lacey has featured in a number of British films including the Beatles' film 'Help!'. He is also heavily associated with radio comedy programme The Goon Show.

This poster advertised screenings of the films 'Midnight Cowboy' and 'The Connection' which took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre within The Glasgow School Of Art from the 12th of April to the 4th May 1990. Tickets for the event were priced at 30p per screening or £1 for five screenings.

This poster advertises events happening on the Monday of one of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual activities weeks. Events included a film screening of Elia Kazan's 'On the Waterfront', as well as an Asian folk concert with music and dancing. There was also a Carol Kidd & Trio jazz concert.

This poster advertised events which took place on the Tuesday of one of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual activities weeks. Events on that day included a lecture by animator Jonathan Hodgson, jazz concerts performed by Ayrshire Jazz Band and Frank Pantrini Quintet, a screening of a film entitled 'Jazz in the Thirties' and a cabaret which was advertised as "Cabaret of a different kind".

This poster advertised the activities taking place on the Wednesday of one of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual activities weeks. Activities included new games, a Scottish Opera Brass concert, Howard Hawks' film To Have And Have Not', The Glasgow School Of Art talent show and a jazz concert by The Alex Dalgleish Band.

This poster advertised a lecture given by BBC film maker Tom Cotter. The lecture was held in the Newbery staff lounge in the Newbery Tower at The Glasgow School Of Art on Wednesday the 25th of October. The poster also advertised a film competition that would take place during the art school's activities week.

This poster advertised an exhibition of fabrics which took place at The Glasgow School Of Art between the 14th of April and the 2nd of May 1975.

This poster advertised the work of graduating printed textile students exhibiting as part of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual degree show. The exhibition was entitled '13 Printed Textile Designers' and was held in the second floor of the Assembly building between the 7th and 18th of June. This item was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Textile conservation was completed in 2019.

This poster advertised a lecture given by fashion and textiles designer Zandra Rhodes who is known for her dramatic designs and bold use of colour. The lecture was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on Wednesday the 6th of May 1981.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by The Glasgow School Of Art graduate Neil Macdonald. Macdonald had recently returned from travelling around Belgium and Italy having been awarded the John David Cargill Travelling Scholarship. The exhibition ran from Wednesday the 21st to Friday the 30th of April 1982 and was held in the Mackintosh building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus.

This poster advertised a lecture given by musician, artist and actor Ian Dury who is most famously known for being the lead singer of Ian Dury and the Blockheads. The lecture was held in the Bourdon Hall in the Bourdon building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus.

This poster advertised a lecture given by the German architect Herman Hertzberger. Hertzberger is widely considered to be one of the influences behind the Dutch Structuralist movement of the mid 20th century. The lecture was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on The Glasgow School Of Art campus on the 20th of February 1975.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work by John Macfarlane who was a student at The Glasgow School Of Art before moving to Wales to work as a set and costume designer. The exhibition was held in the Bourdon building on The Glasgow School Of Art campus from the 5th to the 18th of December 1979. Interestingly, John Macfarlane's name has been misspelled on the poster where his surname has been spelled as 'McFarlane'.

This poster advertised two lectures focusing on films and film making which were given by both Joe McGrath and Bob Godfrey. The event was held in the Haldane building as part of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual Activities Week. Joe McGrath is known for his work as a director on films such as the 1967 version of Casino Royale, The Goon Show and Rising Damp. Bob Godfrey is an illustrator and animator, most famously known for his animation for children's television shows 'Roobarb' and 'Henry's Cat'. The poster is promoted on page 19 of The Glasgow School Of Art prospectus for 1972/73.

This poster appears to advertise a lecture and discussion by Dendler, Dendler and Dunlop which took place on Wednesday the 9th of December. The poster is annotated with ‘Sandy Prentice processed by Chuck Mitchell’.

This poster advertised a lecture given by the Scottish artist and illustrator Emilio Coia. Coia was born in Glasgow and studied at The Glasgow School Of Art. He is recognised for his work for The Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as the Scotsman newspaper. Coia was elected as president of The Glasgow Art Club, a role which he held until his death in 1997. This lecture focused on Coia's surreal drawings of famous buildings, with a particular focus on the Sydney Opera House, and was held at The Glasgow School Of Art on the 19th of February 1973.
