Committee of Management Correspondence: GOV/10/1/1: Draft letter from the School of Art to the Board of Trade, Department of Science and Art, on Captain Owen's memorandum. Letter states the understanding upon which the Glasgow School of Art consent to carry on the institution in co-operation with the Department of Science and Art and outlines agreements such as: payments to be made; some appointment information; salary information and fee information, 1854. GOV/10/1/2: Letter from the Department of Science and Art to Archibald Galbraith, Glasgow School of Art. Letter is a reply to the above and acknowledges the understanding upon which the Glasgow School of Art consent to carry on the institution co-operation with the Department of Science and Art, 09 Sep 1854.

Bequest of Mr McCaig of Oban

Two newspaper cuttings and a note of an interview about the bequest of Mr McCaig of Oban who left his money to Trustees, including the University of Glasgow, to be used for the building of a tower and numerous statues in memory of him and his relations, with any surplus to be used to found a Chair in the Art of Sculpture. This bequest was declared invalid at a Court of Session in 1906.
