Perspective drawing of church. Thomson submitted this design in competition with John Honeyman, whose Gothic Revival entry won the commission for a new church in Edinburgh to be know as St. George's Free Church. There are similarities with the St. Vincent Street church in Glasgow, the massive podium and tall tower, for example.

Project 4: St. Ninian's episcopal church, Isle of Whithorn

Materials related to project 6 to design St. Ninian's episcopal church at Isle of Whithorn includes:

  • plan, roof plan, sections AA, BB, CC, and DD, all in scale 1:100.

The architectural drawings on cartridge paper show designs for a small project using vernacular construction methods and materials in a new way. The architect's idea is to use stone material to build thick walls with curved corners and support a wood panel roof which gives a sense of harmony with the surrounding landscape.

A Roman catholic seminary & chaplaincy for Glasgow University: SW elevation to University Avenue

Architectural drawing on tracing paper includes the south west elevation in scale 1:100, showing the differences of the exterior design between the traditional building and the modern style of the new building. It shows the main entrance of the Wellington church, with six palladio columns. On the other side, the square windows show the simplicity of the new style representing the modern architectural movement at the time of designing this project. This elevation comes with coloured finishing.
