Black and red brooch with face motif.

Sample woven in basketweave with fine white thread. Supplementary weft cords made of pink or blue yarn, white fabric ribbons and metallic-like threads form a pattern of stripes.

Two-faced woven sample. The face consists of a twill weave made with ribbons of a plain weave purple fabric and a finer satin weave fabric in shades of pink, brown and cream. The reverse, a plain weave in light purple and yellow yarn and ribbons of blue satin weave fabric, with machine-made diagonal running stitches in red thread to keep the weaving sample together.

Plain weave sample woven in shades of brown forming a design of puckered vertical bands and supplementary discontinuous wefts made of fabric ribbons in different colours. With loose supplementary warps and wefts in a variety of colours on the reverse.

Two faced sample with ribbons of scrap fabric (including striped printed material) in shades of grey, cream, biege, purple and green gold. Reverse with orange warp threads and gold and purple weft.

Striped cotton jumpsuit in cream, light and dark green, light and dark lilac, and khaki.  The design of the garment suggests that the material was dyed to suit. Strapless fitted bodice with darts opening to wide legged trousers which gather at the ankles in a decorative thread weave cuff. Lace tie fastening on the front of the bodice with braided cord made from coloured threads that match the material. The garment demonstrates a variety of pattern cutting and construction skills and was probably made for a Glasgow School of Art fashion show.

Fraser Taylor student sketchbook for student project 'Torn Posters'. Collages of preparatory designs for printed textiles. Sketchbook submitted as part of portfolio to Royal College of Art. Designs in mixed media including; gouache paint, acrylic paint, pencil, pen, printing ink. crayon, spray paint and ink on a variety of medium including newsprint, watercolour paper, cardboard, acetate and tracing photocopy paper. Several pages include designs using butterfly pins, paper clips, string and luggage tags. Black bound sketchbook. 72 pages. Inside leaf with label of submission to Royal College of Art. Following pages include handwritten notes by Fraser Taylor annotating the sketches.

Small blue card folder with the handwritten label 'Cross Stitch'. It contains a handwritten explanation of the technique and materials, the pattern design for a peacock in pen and ink on graph paper, and the worked textile in blue thread on white cloth.

Black and white patterned ring binder containing 7 samples of canvas work showing different stitches and patterns:

A fold-out book, bound in red fabric, with a white cloth tie around it, embroidered with patterns in red thread. The tie is secured at the back with a red button in the design of spoked wheel and a loop of red thread. On the front cover is an embroidered label with the name 'Mary Mackie' in red thread on a white cloth.

Inside are six 'pages' each with a sample of embroidery attached:

1. Needlepoint depicting a small town with four buildings, roads and trees.

2. White needle lace (?) square with sections showing different patterns, with border.

3. White cloth square of counted-thread embroidery with nine different designs in red, black and orange with border.

4. White drawn thread work square with nine different designs, with border.

5. 11 embroidered designs on differently coloured cloth depicting patterns and stylised plants.

6. Needlepoint depicting a white hart and flowers on a green background.

This film comprises both the 1982 and 1984 fashion show films. The only exception is that the instrumental section with no images, at the end of the 1984 film, is not included here.
