Largely consists of works within churches in Dorset.

A series of black-and-white photographs of William Meldrum's watercolour landscape drawings, showing diverse views of Scotland. A few items have been signed "W. Meldrum" or dated 1920. Some photographs have two identical versions in this collection.

File comprised of 10 photos. Annotation on the back of one image attributes the photographs to the Menswear Show in the New Yorker Hotel, October 1970. The images display Pringle products, as well as staff showing merchandise to prospective customers.

File comprised of 18 photographs from building of the Pringle of Scotland Bermuda shop. Annotation on the reverse of one of the photographs attributes this photo to 'circa 1970'.

File comprised of 16 photos from Pringle of Scotland events. Photos include the presentation of the Queen's Award for Industry, a reception in the Pringle Boardroom, and Pringle of Scotland workers at the presentation ceremony. A number of photographs include annotations on the reverse.

The collection constists of 4 volumes containing 29 portrait carbon prints and 90 calotype prints by Hill and Adamson. The images are mainly portraits but also include some scenes of Edinburgh. Some of the portraits within the collection are of Hill and Adamson themselves and members of their families. In addition to this material, there is a volume (volume 5) of 50 photographic carbon prints printed by Jessie Bertram, Rose Street, Edinburgh in 1916 from original negatives by David Octavius Hill's and then published by Andrew Elliot, Princess Street, Edinburgh. These images consist mainly of portraits with a small number of photographs of Edinburgh included. A further 7 loose photographs also exist.

One item was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Paper conservation was completed in 2019.

The Glasgow School of Art photographic collection consists of

• images taken by GSA to record the activities of the School
• images taken for publicity purposes
• images donated by former staff and students illustrating their time at the School
• and images used as teaching aids at GSA.

Some of this material is currently uncatalogued and therefore not accessible for researchers.

The photographic collections consist of loose photographs, bound albums of photographs and a large collection of lantern slides and glass plate negatives.

The photographs record events at The Glasgow School of Art, its students and their work and act as an important historical source. A large part of the collection consists of the plate glass negatives which were used from the 19th century onwards as a teaching aid and consist of photographic plates of international artworks and architectural examples.

We have identified people depicted in these photographs where possible. Please get in touch if you spot any inconsistencies, omissions or errors, and we will edit descriptions accordingly.
