Chris Webster studied Design and Visual Communications at GSA, graduating in 1980. Chris filmed the 1978 fashion show. He was awarded a maintenance scholarship for a further four terms at Glasgow in session 1978-79.
Chris is a freelance television producer and director, and has been based in the Middle East since 2013.

Denis Crossan studied at GSA in the 1970s and filmed the 1978 fashion show. Whilst at GSA he exhibited photographs.
He has worked as a cinematographer for all his professional life, from the 1980s and into 2017, on a number of Hollywood films and television programmes. Denis is also a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.

Colin Carruthers studied Graphic Design at GSA in the 1970s and was a cameraman for the 1978 fashion show. He was awarded a maintenance scholarship for a further year at Glasgow in session 1978-79.

Lyn McLaughlin started as an AV Technician in the Architecture School in 1978 and then went on to work as a Technical Assistant to the whole school in various departments.
As at July 2017, she works as part of the Learning Technology Resource unit. Lyn filmed and edited the films for the fashion shows from 1982 to 1986.

Ken Plater was involved in filming the 1984 and 1986 fashion shows.

Marise Plater was involved in filming the 1984 and 1986 fashion shows.

Born 11 April 1914 in Stirling, Scotland. Died Quebec, Canada in 1987. Animator and filmmaker. Attended Glasgow School of Art from 1931-1936 gaining a Diploma in Interior Design in 1936. He won Windsor & Newton Prize 1932, James Brough Memorial Prize, 1934. He also took part in GSA Dramatic Society (1934) and was a member of GSA’s Kinecraft Society.

After art school he went on to be a highly successful filmmaker. Following short professional stints in London and New York, he moved to Canada to work with renowned Scottish documentary filmmaker John Grierson at The National Film Board of Canada, where he made his most creative and acclaimed works.

The Mackintosh Building foyer contained a Scottish Film Council plaque, installed in 1996 as part of the Film Council’s celebration of 100 years of Scottish Cinema.

Robert (Bob) M Finnie was a student at The Glasgow School of Art c.1952-57. He was awarded a diploma in Printed Textiles and a post diploma award in the same. He lectured in Printed Textiles from 1958 to the mid seventies. He set up a screen printing facility for general student use but CNNA rules decreed that it must belong to a School. At this time he was promoted to senior lecturer and opted to become part of Fine Art in the Department of Printmaking. Here he was instrumental in setting up a pilot Fine Art photographic area in anticipation of the creation of a new degree in Fine Art Photography with the appointment of a new head of the same. About this time he was appointed a Governer of the School and served on the Building and Fabric Commitee until his retiral from the School in December 1989.
