Painter, designer, muralist, printmaker and teacher, born in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire. He attended Glasgow School of Art, 1948-1952, specialising in graphic design, then after a post-diploma year went on to teach art at Lenzie Academy, later becoming department head at Clydebank High School. Resigned from teaching in 1987 to become freelance full-time. Rodger's talents were very varied, encompassing a set of Scottish historical playing cards; a memorial stained glass window at Kippen Parish Church; and historic monuments and buildings commissions, including a mural, lino-cuts and line drawings about the whisky industry, another being concerned with the history of Rothesay. The Collins Gallery at Strathclyde University mounted a retrospective in 1986. Later exhibitions included 'On the Other Hand', Edinburgh International Festival Exhibition, Open Eye Gallery, 2003.
