Scope and content

1 of a series of 7 posters created to show support for key workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. This poster celebrates nurses. Reads "Power tae the key workers" and " From Scotland, with love x".

Artist's statement: "During lockdown we have had to put down our paintbrushes and think differently about how we bring colour and positivity to our streets during these difficult times. Over the past 6 weeks we have been working on a series of posters focussing on the crucial role that key workers are playing in the fight against the Covid19 pandemic. We wanted to show solidarity, support, and gratitude towards Glasgow’s key workers during these particularly challenging times, and also to inject Glasgow’s streets with strong, uplifting messages of positivity, optimism, and encouragement. COBOLT would like to thank our key workers who have been on the frontline and in the forefront day after day, striving to protect us from the full impact of the virus. They are the pillars of our society, always and forever, and may their care, commitment, courage and strength be wholly recognised and valued. This project has been made possible by the support of seven trade unions who represent key workers across a range of sectors. The unions who have supported the project are: EIS, CWU, BMA, GMB, FBU, SAU, and Unison. As members of the Scottish Artists Union, we know the real value and importance of trade unions. Recognising that the role of trade unions has been fundamental and effective in supporting key workers throughout this pandemic, we can think of no better group of organisations to be backing us on this project, and are delighted to have them on board".
