This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010). Designed for the Card Room at Hous'hill in Nitshill in Glasgow. 'A unique and most elegant design, miniaturising some of the elements of the Library timbers at the Glasgow School of Art in a writing table. The paired beams seen in the Library, almost complete at this date, are echoes in the paired legs, and the chamfering of the balusters and the bent laths around the balcony are repeated in the rails below the drawers... D.1909.12 shows the table located between two chairs in a bay off the Card Room [at Hous'hill].' (Roger Billcliffe).

Closely woven cotton fabric with printed warp threads and jagged design of subtle gradations in colour from orange through to red, blue, green to orange again. Second section with contrasting weft colours and regular pale yellow wefts giving a striped effect in shades of orange, pink, green and blue. Thicker cream coloured yarn has been introduced to form a line and zig zag geometric design over the coloured weave. This item was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Textile conservation was completed in 2019.

Probably while the tables belonged to the Grosvenor Restaurant, they were over-painted black (like the yellow couch from the Dug-Out, MC/F/84). In 1986 the black paint was removed and the tables repainted silver with an aluminium paint similar to the original (paint sample analysed by Kelvingrove conservators). At the same time missing glass insets were replaced. This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).
