Plaster cast of Parthenon Frieze (South Frieze XLIV)

Original: Designed by Pheidias, 447-432BC. A section of the south frieze showing men leading sacrificial animals. It is generally agreed that the frieze depicts (in narrative form) the Greater Panathenaic procession from the Leokoreion by the Dipylon gate to the Acropolis, was mooted by Stuart and Revett in the second volume of their Antiquities of Athens, 1787.

Three abstract compositions of organic like shapes. Painted in ink, gouache and metallic ink on white paper. Similar in design and application of media to DC 089/1/2/4/10.

Some of this material was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Paper conservation took place in 2018. Textile conservation was completed in 2019.

Linen Cupboard for Gladsmuir

Designed for the nursery, Gladsmuir, Kilmacolm. Probably made by Guthrie & Wells. The wide vertical panels running either side of the back of the cupboard, here terminating in two decorated lugs, are a motif Mackintosh often used in later work. One of Mackintosh's early pieces which William Davidson acquired for his home in his parents' house Gladsmuir before he built Windyhill. Original photos of the Windyhill interiors show it located in the hall.
This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).

Chair for Ingram Street Tea Rooms

Designed for the White Dining Room, Ingram Street Tea Rooms. Glasgow. The basic chair used in the main dining room, and the Cloister Room in 1900. The original seat coverings were probably horsehair. Reupholstered in brown horsehair, 1984. The Ingram Street Tea Rooms were purchased by Glasgow Corporation in 1951 for £25,000 and were then rented out as various shops and warehouses. This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).

St. George's Church, Edinburgh

Perspective drawing of church. Thomson submitted this design in competition with John Honeyman, whose Gothic Revival entry won the commission for a new church in Edinburgh to be know as St. George's Free Church. There are similarities with the St. Vincent Street church in Glasgow, the massive podium and tall tower, for example.

Large scale collage featuring monoprints of industrial architecture and structures. Central to the design is a male figure with monoprinted face and holding a large industrious pole. The design is painted in gouache and features purple, blue and red with charcoal used to outline shapes. Signed "Fraser Taylor". Work on paper and backed on conservation board.
