This poster is part of a course project organised by the Visual Communications department. The brief for the project required students to design a poster for a particular film they had been assigned. In this example, student Kate Costigan has designed a poster for the Robert Day film 'The Rebel'. To create this poster Costigan used screenprinting techniques.

This poster advertised an exhibition of work from The Private Press Movement with pieces ranging from the work of William Morris to the work of modern day artists. The exhibition was held in The Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh Museum and ran from the 1st to the 12th of May 1973.

This poster advertised screenings of the films 'Midnight Cowboy' and 'The Connection' which took place in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre within The Glasgow School Of Art from the 12th of April to the 4th May 1990. Tickets for the event were priced at 30p per screening or £1 for five screenings.

This is a poster for the 3rd year Textiles Fashion Show held at 7pm and 9pm each night from 8th-9th Mar 2011 . The event was accompanied by a boutique and secret postcard sale with an aftershow party held at the Buff Club. The event was sponsored by Mandors Fabric Store, Buchanan Galleries shopping centre, PRI and Mash amplification. One of the themes of this year's fashion show was the Newbery Tower, which was due for demolition during the School's summer vacation in 2011. The Archives also hold digital images of the secret postcard sale, which involved the selling of postcards created by past and present students on the theme of the Newbery Tower.

This was one of a set of prints/ illustrations made for Mussorgsky's song cycle "Songs & Dances of Death" for a solo exhibition in the former Blythswood Gallery in Blythswood Square, Glasgow, which was opened by Emilio Coia in 1960. Among those who bought the prints were George Singleton ("Mr. Cosmo"), Emilio Coia and Jack Coia the architect.

This poster advertised a lecture given by Marina Von Salem on the Die Brücke movement, an artistic movement created by a number of German expressionist artists in the early 20th century. Die Brücke is German for 'The Bridge' and the movement was refered to as "The German expressionist bridge to the future".

This poster advertised a lecture by artist John Wright which was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre. The lecture centred around Wright's travels across the Sahara to Tassili and his colour slides of the journey.

This poster advertised a lecture given by BBC film maker Tom Cotter. The lecture was held in the Newbery staff lounge in the Newbery Tower at The Glasgow School Of Art on Wednesday the 25th of October. The poster also advertised a film competition that would take place during the art school's activities week.

This poster advertised a lecture given by illustrator and animator Bob Godfrey. Godfrey is famous for his animated cartoons including Roobarb, Noah and Nelly and Henry's Cat. The lecture was held on the 30th of May 1979 and part of it involved Godfrey offering to critique the student's own films.

This poster advertised a lecture given by architecture critic Rayner Banham which was held in the Haldane Building on the 21st of February 1962. Banham was also a prolific writer and is best known for his theoretical treatise 'Theory and Design in the First Machine Age' (1960) and for his book 'Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies' (1971). The poster states "Come on babey, do the mega structure" which is a pun on the 1962 pop song 'Loco-Motion' by Eva Boyd.

Stewart previously graduated from the school with an undergraduate degree in drawing and painting and a postgraduate degree in fine art. He is pictured in The Glasgow School Of Art's degree show posters for 1988 and 1990, both of which appear in The Glasgow School Of Art poster collection. A key identifying each student in the photograph can also be found in the archival folder for this item.
