Includes a black and white glossy photograph of a smiling Veronica Matthew in a white dress made with a printed shawl by Valerie Wilson (Bloomfield-Ambrose) in 1956 or 1957. "Weekly Scotsman. Edinburgh." written at bottom on the white border. Verso "Veronica Matthew / G.S.A. Fashion Show, 1956 or 1957 / The white dress belonged to Valerie Wilson, (now V. Ambrose), + made by her. The stole was a screen printed textile made by me in greens, red + a kind of Kakhi colour. The headdress was red knitting pins stuck into my bun. I was a student of Robert Stewart's / Printed Textiles Dept. + Kathleen Whyte's Modern Embroidery / 10 Aug 2016." Verso also includes a stamp that indicates the copyright and reference number for printing purposes.

GSA Fashion Show film

The exact date and location of the 1982 fashion show are unknown.  Other shows held around this time were however held in the spring, and in the Assembly building or in the Assembly Hall of the Bourdon Building. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments.  Styles and themes of garments include rainbow, futuristic, Oriental, Egyptian, ballgowns, stripes, geometry, hats, formal, off-the-shoulder, utility wear, white, accessories, metallic, fantasy, swimwear. The show also features an extravagant period ballgown, designed by Kenny McLellan, which was subsequently shown at the “Young Blood” exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, in November 1983 to January 1984. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured fabric backdrop. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. Pattern design

Spot design drawn in pencil and painted in pink gouache. Two parallel stripes rendered in blue and pink gouache dominating the composition. Similar to DC 089/1/2/4/4.

Some of this material was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Paper conservation took place in 2018. Textile conservation was completed in 2019.
