A collection of sketches, designs, photographs and lithographs by Donald Melvin completed during his time as a student at Glasgow School of Art in the 1960s.
Includes work carried out as part of courses such as, for example, Interior Design, the History of Furniture, the 2nd Year General Course, the Pre-Diploma /Foundation Course and Woodcarving.
Also includes sketches carried out during GSA summer schools abroad in Florence and in Norway, and materials relating to extra-curricular activities such as photographs of productions staged by GSA Dramatic Club and Christmas ball posters.

This poster advertised the work of graduating students from the fine art department who were exhibiting as part of The Glasgow School Of Art's annual degree show in 1990. The exhibition included work by students studying environmental art, painting, photography, printmaking and scupture. The poster features a photograph taken by Andrew Stark which shows the exhibitors sitting on the steps of the Mackintosh Building. Martin Boyce winner of the Turner Prize in 2011 can be seen sitting in the front row fifth from the left. The poster was designed at The Glasgow School Of Art and printed by David J Clark Limited. Stewart previously studied fine art at The Glasgow School Of Art at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and is pictured in the degree show posters from 1988 and 1990. The newscutting informs of the reception and dance that were held at The Glasgow School of Art on the day it was published. The evening entertainment included the presentation of two plays by Francis H. Newbery. It shows photographs of four principals in the plays: Miss J. Cameron, Mr A. G. Crombie, Mr J. C. M'Fayden, and Mr J. Huck.
