Loosely woven two-faced fabric with organza ribbons in purple and green and loose weave cotton ribbons in pink and green. Reverse shows supporting weave of green and dark blue wool.
Two-faced plain weave sample with fringe. The face consists of fabric ribbons of a satin weave green fabric and a coarse open weave fabric in purple, blue and yellow. The reverse is woven with red yarn and the same coarse open weave fabric in purple, blue and yellow.
Single-faced evenly woven fabric in cream with silver grey and beige stripes. Sections of coloured weft threads left loose as part of the design, held in place by a loosely tensioned weave.
Closely woven cotton fabric with printed warp threads and jagged design of subtle gradations in colour from orange through to red, blue, green to orange again. Second section with contrasting weft colours and regular pale yellow wefts giving a striped effect in shades of orange, pink, green and blue. Thicker cream coloured yarn has been introduced to form a line and zig zag geometric design over the coloured weave. This item was damaged in the fire in GSA's Mackintosh Building on 23rd May 2014. Textile conservation was completed in 2019.
Double-faced weaving sample in fine cotton thread. Cream-coloured warps and wefts interwoven with multicoloured wefts in red, pink, blue, green, black, and white, that form eight different sections with abstract patterns. Warps and wefts have been left long as fringe.
Double-faced fabric, in an even, regular weave. Grid design on a cream background in rectangles of red, orange, yellow and three shades of blue, with colour gradations in some parts of the design. It also has been quilted to add texture and weight to the lower half of the banner.
Double-faced weaving sample with a geometric design of repeating bands of chevron-like figures. Woven with cotton thread in shades of blue and purple with supplementary warps in bright orange shades forming the pattern. A label is attached to the item which reads 'Samanth Goates, 1990', however, this is a misattribution.
Long multi-coloured banner. Wefts and warps in shades of purple, orange, pink, green, yellow, grey and brown form an abstract design of gradated colours on a cream-coloured background. The warps have been left long in the lower edge and turned into a fringe.
Woven wall hanging in plain weave with black yarn and loose supplementary warps and wefts in yellow, orange, red, green and black thinner yarn and ribbons of black plastic (possible bin bags). These supplementary warps and wefts form two vertical bands with a puckered effect. The warps are knotted and left long as fringes.
Large weaving sample with a design of different patterns of stripes and bands in three distinctive sections. Woven in plain weave with fine cotton threads in shades of blue, and leaving the warp threads as fringe. The supplementary wefts of frayed red ribbons and fine cotton thread in yellow and orange are woven in twill weave and form the different patterns.
Large double-faced hanging in twill weave with a design of vertical stripes in the upper half and aquarium fish behind a grid in the lower half. Woven in cream-coloured thread with a glittering effect, and black threads to create the design. It also has grommets for hanging.
Large plain weave sample woven with fine cotton threads in dark blue, light blue, silver blue, coral, and dark green, and finer multi-coloured threads. With a pattern of vertical stripes and bands, some of them with a puckered effect.

Double-faced, tightly woven sample with grid-like design of coloured squares arranged in bands on a black background. Woven in plain weave with yarn in shades of pink, purple, orange, blue, brown and black. This sample was entered by Alison Blair as her entry for the RSA's Industrial Design Bursaries Competition in Furnishing Textiles.
