Records relating to the properties and premises of the Glasgow School of Art. The majority of these records relate to the construction of the Mackintosh Building: the premises of the Glasgow School of Art on Renfrew Street. The erection of the Mackintosh building is well documented, and the records cover all aspects of the creation of the building from early financial records from 1883 to receipts for fittings in 1912. Includes two copies of architectural sketches for an early English doorway, entrance to Chapter House, Glasgow Cathedral. Sketch is dated 28 January 1903, supplement to The Builder's Journal and Architectural Record, measured and drawn by Charles Forsyth. Also includes collection of architectural lithograph prints, sketches, and watercolours of various locations including Paris, Rome, Cairo, and throughout the UK, some by E. Hildebrandt. Two have a stamp on corner of work, "Department of Science and Art, Specimen presented to schools". Also includes coloured prints of various rooms in the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia. Views include halls, courtyard, indoor garden, holy vestibule, throne room. Labelled in Russian and French, some include English labels written in pencil. Also includes collection of printed architectural plans and designs including two ordinance surveys of Garnethill and City Centre/Sauchiehall St., three copies of a poster of "100 Years of British Architecture" by The Observer, a floor plan of the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow, a poster of "James Caldwell & Co. Abbotsford Stained Glassworks" designs, and three small architectural sketches/plans/designs of Grey Friars Church in Edinburgh, Chartres Cathedral in France, and Candlish Memorial Church in Glasgow.

Includes flower prints, animal prints, architectural prints, and a print of a painting of a rhinoceros.

Teaching aids include collections of prints, photographs, and calligraphy examples.

This poster advertised the publication of issue 11 of the Mackintosh School of Architecture magazine. The front of the poster features an illustration which was probably produced by Ingebjorg Smith while the reverse shows a number of architectural drawings. These include drawings for a refurbishment of the Glasgow Fish Market by Stephen Elliot as well as set design drawings for The Glasgow School Of Art Fashion Show by Adam Bell, Lucy Vaughan and Peter McIlhenny.

These posters advertised an exhibition of work by past and present students from the School Of Design and the Mackintosh School Of Architecture at The Glasgow School Of Art. Dominating both posters is a quote from John Kenneth Galbraith who was a prominent economist during this period. The quote states "It is on the artistic not less than on the engineering and scientific excellence that economic security and economic progress now depend," The exhibition was held between The Mackintosh Museum on The Glasgow School Of Art Campus and Kelvingrove Art Gallery And Museum and ran from the 9th of February to the 1st of March 1985.

GSA Archives and Collections hold 216 audiovisual files, covering a range of topics and a wide date range. The audiovisual material has been created both by GSA and by external organisations, such as the BBC (television and radio), STV and ITV, other educational institutions and the Scottish Arts Council. Media in the collection include 16mm films, 35mm films, audio cassettes, audio CDs, CD Rom, DV cassette, DVD, Floppy disk, Reel to reel audios, Super 8 film, U-matic films, VHS tapes and Video 8 tapes. The audiovisual files pertain to topics including the GSA Fashion and Degree Shows, and Activities Week; students discussing their work; lectures by architects; presentations by, and interviews and conversations with, GSA alumni; centenary of the Mackintosh Building; Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh; plays; and documentaries on GSA. Please note that this material is not yet fully catalogued and therefore some items may not be accessible to researchers. As at August 2017, only the fashion show audiovisual material has been catalogued. The remaining uncatalogued material is therefore not currently accessible for researchers.
