Archival history
The Business Committee was formed on 22 Mar 2000 when the business of the Chairman's Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Estates Committee was seen to have significant overlaps, creating duplication of work and slowing down the decision making process.
The proposed solution was to establish the Business Committee that would join the functions of the Chairman's and Finance Committees. Its remit would include financial monitoring, recommending the annual budget and strategic plan to the Board, and other operational matters. The Committee also acts as the Remuneration Committee and the Nominations Committee. The last Chairman's Committee meeting was 31 May 2000 and the last Finance Committee meeting was 01 Jun 2000.
The first meeting of the Business Committee was on 26 Sep 2000.
From 2014 the Business Committee was known as the 'Business and Estates Committee', until its name returned to the 'Business Committee' in 2017.
