Archival history

The first meeting of the Joint Crafts Committee was held 27 Apr 1964 and the purpose of this Committee was to maintain regular laison between the Scottish Country Industries Development Trust and the Scottish Craft Centre. A representative of the Scottish Committee of the Council of Industrial Design also sat on the Committee.

The informal remit of the Joint Crafts Committee was: 'To keep under review and to co-ordinate, in consultation as necessary with other bodies, the policies and activities of the Scottish Country Industries Development Trust and the Scottish Craft Centre in relation to the general development of crafts in Scotland with particular reference to the work of the Crafts Officer."
