History
Jessie G. Rollo (nee Patrick) was born circa 1875 and had a prolific academic career at The Glasgow School of Art, attending for ten years between 1892 and 1902 and again for a further year in 1914. The daughter of a doctor, Rollo resided at 143 Greenhead Street in Bridgeton. This is given as her address throughout her studies as a young woman and again in her later married years, suggesting she may have either remained or returned to the family home in the interval period.
Throughout her time at The School, it is likely that Rollo was a student of Modelling, given her occupation is recorded at times as 'Modeller' and we know that she later had some success as a sculptor. Rollo exhibited two notable pieces with The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1902 and again in 1905. Rollo also had a relative named John Patrick, possibly an older brother, who attended The Glasgow School of Art between 1884 and 1886. John and Jessie shared the same address at 143 Greenhead Street (sometimes referred to as Greenhead Terrace).
