George Gould MacQuarrie was born in 1887. He studied at The Glasgow School of Art in session 1914-15 then returned from 1918 – 1920. As he was not present during 1915-1918 session it is assumed he was part of the war effort. He attended evening classes in drawing and painting then went on to study life drawing.
