Conrad McKenna’s teaching notes during his various teaching roles at The Glasgow School of Art. Including a combination of typed materials, hand written notes, annotated diagrams and drawings by Conrad McKenna for delivery of the First Year Course including: course overview, course topics, exercises and talks. Materials outline and discuss: materials, processes, techniques, definitions and references relating to: printing, papers, typography, wood and metal work, pattern, drawing, colour, shape and volume, tone, communication, photography, design and design theory. The majority of the material is titled "First Year Course".

Glasgow School of Art prospectuses

The prospectuses include lists of governors and staff, a brief history of the School, plans of the School, information on the organisation and administration of the School, the enrolment of students, courses, classes, lectures, fees, examinations, scholarships and bursaries, prizes, School clubs and lists of results, occupations of students and appointments.

The prospectuses frequently outline courses offered by GSA for the year, and so would have likely been published prior to this date so that prospective students could view relevant information and apply for the courses in advance.

Decorative floral design

Large circular decorative design piece featuring various repetitive marks, shapes and a floral design. Painted in red, blue, pink, green and yellow on a background of brown watercolour. The back of the design reads ‘Jane S. Wilson, 18/6/1912’ in pencil, and ‘GSA 1930-34’ potentially added later in black ink.

Architectural prints

Includes two copies of architectural sketches for an early English doorway, entrance to Chapter House, Glasgow Cathedral. Sketch is dated 28 January 1903, supplement to The Builder's Journal and Architectural Record, measured and drawn by Charles Forsyth. Also includes collection of architectural lithograph prints, sketches, and watercolours of various locations including Paris, Rome, Cairo, and throughout the UK, some by E. Hildebrandt. Two have a stamp on corner of work, "Department of Science and Art, Specimen presented to schools". Also includes coloured prints of various rooms in the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia. Views include halls, courtyard, indoor garden, holy vestibule, throne room. Labelled in Russian and French, some include English labels written in pencil. Also includes collection of printed architectural plans and designs including two ordinance surveys of Garnethill and City Centre/Sauchiehall St., three copies of a poster of "100 Years of British Architecture" by The Observer, a floor plan of the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow, a poster of "James Caldwell & Co. Abbotsford Stained Glassworks" designs, and three small architectural sketches/plans/designs of Grey Friars Church in Edinburgh, Chartres Cathedral in France, and Candlish Memorial Church in Glasgow.

Alastair Shanks notes from The Art Course for Primary Teachers

Notes and folio referring to the Art Course for Primary Teachers at The Glasgow School of Art. Alastair Shanks attended two of these courses. The notes are intended for use with complete beginners and include lessons on shape, light and shade as well as colour. A two page desciption of the following notes has been provided by Alastair Shanks. The folio of drawings that follow are executed in a variety of materials from pencil to pastel and act as illustrations for various lessons that may be taught.
