Collection of cast reliefs

Collection of brown stained round plaster cast reliefs. Mostly depicting portrait busts. Kept in eight shallow wooden drawers. Themes include: religious figures, military figures, ancient Greek and Roman figures, royalty, various historical figures, and commemorative scenes. Some include stamped titles on front, some scratched on back, some without any identification. Also includes paper timeline of ancient Roman rulers.

Brass lantern

Brass lantern treated with gold finish with cut-out ornamental design on top and bottom. Has glass covering for light, cut wires on bottom which would have been attached to light bulb inside. Lantern would have been attached to the wall. Back of lantern has red marking, "SCH-302". Indented stamp on top front of lamp, "ALLAN & CO". Due to information in an inventory, lantern can be dated pre-1958.

Blue rabbit with stand

Blue glazed ceramic rabbit with black glazed eyes with red marking on bottom of rabbit, "SCH-83". Includes wooden stand painted black with four small feet, shaped for rabbit to sit. Bottom of stand has red marking "SCH-83B". Due to information in an inventory, rabbit can be dated pre-1958.

Notes and folio referring to the Art Course for Primary Teachers at The Glasgow School of Art. Alastair Shanks attended two of these courses. The notes are intended for use with complete beginners and include lessons on shape, light and shade as well as colour. A two page desciption of the following notes has been provided by Alastair Shanks. The folio of drawings that follow are executed in a variety of materials from pencil to pastel and act as illustrations for various lessons that may be taught.
