This piece was entered by the artist into a summer competition for students. It was then chosen by Director DP Bliss to be framed and displayed in the entrance hall of the Mackintosh Building. It was removed following redecoration of the entrance hall in 2006-2010.

Lower right corner has a The Glasgow School of Art student work tag which dates the piece to 1914-15, and ascribes the work to Dorothy Doddrell. Annotation beneath the mounted calligraphy states that it is copied from an old vellum.

It was created by Katie Hawson who was a volunteer at The Glasgow School Of Art Archives and Collections in 2013. Eddie Stewart, a former painting and printmaking tutor at the school helped Katie to identify each individual.
