Activities week was an important part of the school's curriculum during the 1970s. All classes stopped and students were instead required to attend lectures and film screenings.

Activities week was an annual programme of talks, film screenings and social events that ran from 1971 to 1985. Playing at the ceilidh were a number of notable Scottish folk musicians including Cliff Hanley, Billy Connolly, Robin Hall, Jimmy McGregor and Charlie Williamson.
