Pottery fragment

Rim fragment with cream glaze and blue and black hand-painted band on recto. Cream glaze with hand-painted black band with what might be Arabic writing on verso.

One of thirty-one different pottery fragments from Persia/Egypt/Syria. Likely brought to the Glasgow School of Art to be used as teaching aids.

Sandstone plaque - The Glasgow School of Art Common Room

Sandstone name plaque for the GSA Common Room, which was part of the building on the opposite side of Renfrew Street aquired ca. 1920 to allow the School to expand.  This building housed the Assembly Hall which was opened in 1929, so other facillities are assumed to date from around the same time. (Plaque was formerly wrongly identified as that for the Assembly Hall).

Sculptured nativity scene

Plaster and resin cast, possibly taken from an older wood carving showing a nativity scene on the long face and an Annunciation and Joseph on either end. The reverse is hollow with rough resin marks. Shape suggests it is copied from a capital at the top of a pilaster. Formerly located in the Director's office.
