  • 1&2. Both contain 2 pieces of grey linen on cream card showing variations of hemstitch, straight stitch, herringbone stitch, drawn thread and 4 side stitch.
    1. Piece of grey paper divided into 4 sections with floral templates. Pale blue linen sampler with embroidered flowers in blue and white thread. Part of Needlework Development Scheme from 1930s.

Folder of various student work and notes

Folder containing Kath Whyte's samples & records on visual disturbances caused by a lens implants. This includes a letter from Shelia to Kath outlining discussion with ophthalmologist about Kath’s drawings, pen drawings on clear plastic, two texts entitled ‘Record of “Extra-Visual Perception” as seen after a cataract operation on the left eye- before spectacles –", one piece of card with preserved flower buds wrapped in plastic, one multimedia artwork, two cards bearing the text ‘Light Experiments - after eye operations, 1977’ and five pages of abstract pen and pencil drawings.

Collected ephemera

A collection of catalogues, invitations, programmes and dinner menus collected by Kath Whyte. Many relate to GSA alumni and events and some of the dinner menus have been signed by fellow guests. Other items include a catalogue for Kath Whyte: Embroiderer Retrospective Exhibition and a photograph album presented to Kath by Daimaru for her help with an exhibition.

Postcards

A collection of postcards received and kept by Kath Whyte; also includes blank postcards. Many postcards are from heritage institutions such as the British Museum and the National Trust and feature works of art such as paintings and tapestries. One folder of cards have been cut into strips and woven in order to get ideas for colour schemes.

A collection of personal letters and greeting cards received by Kath Whyte; as well as some letters written by Kath to her sister and mother. This includes letters of congratulations for being awarded an M.B.E. Also contains poems written by Kath and her sister and a script with the notation 'Party to celebrate the occasion of MBE to Kath Whyte before the move from Bath Street to the Newbery Tower - author unknown - Crissie White'.
