  • A framed batik; a design by Bob Stewart [outsize];
  • "Brave Fusilier" an abstract work of art given to Kath Whyte on her retirement by Bob Finnie, lecturer in the Printed Textiles Department [outsize];
  • Charcoal portrait, pencil portrait and two etchings of Kath Whyte signed by W.S. Webster [outsize];
  • Piece of art work (possibly a portrait of Kath?) done by a child [outsize].

There are also two boxes of slides of images relating to embroidery and weaving which cover topics such as threads & stitches, patchwork, metal thread, fabric, etc.

Glasgow School of Art Photographs

A collection of mainly black & white, and some colour, photographs relating to Kath Whyte's time at Glasgow School of Art.

Contains photos of her students' work, including Dip and Post Dip shows, 1951-1965. Many photographs have been annotated and pictured works include those of: Kirsty McFarlane, Doreen Sisson, Nan Cameron, Moira Duncan, Marion Gracie, Margaret Kirkland, Joan Horne, Jack Lindsay, Patricia Miller, Mary Hughes, Julia Murray-Zmijewski and others.

Includes a scrapbook with the inscription, "My DEAR girls...!", which contains black & white, as well as colour, photographs of Kath Whyte and her students; taken mainly in GSA studios. Some photographs have been annotated and pictured students include: Alex Conway, Linda Smith, Carol Jones, Sheila Melville, Mary Metheson, Anne Ross, Isabel MacGregor, Joyce Lauden, Marilyn Hunter, Caroline Henderson and others.

Also includes a photo from the GSA Christmas ball; 1962.

  • "The Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Maiden", a manuscript featuring decorative lettering (presumably from Kath's time at Gray's).
  • A sketchbook inscribed 'Kathleen Whyte, Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen Oct. 1929' containing portraits, life drawings, and landscapes done in pencil, watercolour and pastel.
  • "Betty", a framed and mounted lino-cut; 1930.

A collection of personal papers relating to Kath Whyte's time at school which includes:

  • Letters written by Kath to her family during her time at Loreto Convent.
  • Letters written to Kath by her family during her time at Loreto Convent.
  • Letters from Loreto Convent to Mrs Whyte requesting money for a costume for Kath and that an item of clothing made for Betty (her sister) by Kath be allowed to be displayed at an exhibition.
  • A handwritten psalm.

There is one album which includes photographs of Kath with friends and family on days out, e.g. at a beach and on a picnic, as well as photographs of students painting in a studio and in fancy dress; and one album which includes photographs of Kath's diploma show.

A collection of postcards received and kept by Kath Whyte; also includes blank postcards. Many postcards are from heritage institutions such as the British Museum and the National Trust and feature works of art such as paintings and tapestries.
