A more elegant version of the windsor chairs designed for the Dutch Kitchen at Argyle Street (Billcliffe 1906.49). These chairs proved much too delicate for their original purpose; only eight of approximately forty have survived, and all of these have had to be reinforced. They were replaced in the GSA Library c1950 by the much sturdier chairs originally designed for the Ingram Street Tea Rooms, MC/F/67. The Ingram Street Tea Rooms were purchased by Glasgow Corporation in 1951 for £25,000 and were then rented out as various shops and warehouses.
One of three ceiling light clusters designed for the new Board Room at Glasgow School of Art. Each fitting consists of nine lampshades suspended from a decorative iron frame.

The original position of the fifth lamp is not known. In 1985 it was cleaned and placed above the School outer front doors, at the same time as these were repainted white.

Architectural drawing showing north elevation. The main difference between the completed North elevation and that shown in the 1896-97 design is the addition of an attic storey, but by setting back the upper row of windows Mackintosh made them quite invisible from Renfrew Street.
Designed for Director's Room, Glasgow School of Art. 'This large table may well have been designed for meetings of the Board of Governors, who rarely used the original Board Room which was eventually taken over as a studio. It was designed with two high backed armchairs and twelve low backed armchairs and was photographed in 1910 in the new Board Room which Mackintosh had provided for the Governors, and not in the Director's Room for which it was designed. The square is again the dominant motif in this group of designs. The table legs are square, but they are hollow, and square cut outs in them indicate the construction.' (Roger Billcliffe). Probably designed to support large bound volumes such as newspapers or folio books which were too large for the readers' tables. The deep zinc lined well in the centre could have been used as a receptacle for pot plants. It has been suggested that it was used for plant drawing, with four students working at drawing boards on each side of the stand, but this seems unlikely, the students would have been too close to the plant to be able to see it. The construction allows this piece to be dismantled and folded.
