Designed for the Willow Tea Rooms, Glasgow. This clock does not appear in any of the contemporary photographs of the Willow Tea Rooms, but the materials suggest that it was designed for the Billiards or Smoking Rooms, or the Black Saloons, which all had dark schemes of decoration. The projecting panels at the back are identical with those on the clock designed for the Ball dining room in Berlin. The front is hinged and opens to show shelves.

Rectangular table for Willow Tea Rooms
Designed for the Willow Tea Rooms, Glasgow. There is no provenance for this table. Stylistically it has elements in common with some of the pieces designed for the Willow Tea Rooms; the row of glazed ovals is reminiscent of a similar feature in the fireplace in the Smoking Room. It could have come to the GSA with a number of other pieces of Willow furniture purchased from the Grosvenor Restaurant. (Roger Billcliffe).

This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).
Designed for Gladsmuir, Kilmacolm. Two tables and two benches were made for the schoolroom at Gladsmuir, probably at the same time as the bookcase. The thistle motif pierced in the sides of the legs of the benches is repeated in the leaded glass of the bookcase.

Small table for 78 Southpark Avenue
A small rectangular table on plain square legs designed as an extension to dining table MC/F/108. This table was commissioned by William Davidson after he moved into 78 Southpark Avenue in 1919. Davidson purchased this house and some of its furniture from Mackintosh when the latter moved to London. In later years the table was referred to as a side table. This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).

Domino table for the Chinese Room, Ingram Street Tea Rooms
This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).
Designed for the Blue or Chinese Room at the Ingram Street Tea Rooms, Glasgow. The fretted back and side rails match the Chinese style motifs of the Blue Room (as called in the job books). Much of the woodwork in the Chinese Room was painted bright blue or red, but there is no trace of any finish having been applied to these chairs other than the ebonising which most of them still display. These chairs have always been associated with the Chinese Room and so must be identified with the entry for thirty-six in the job books (Roger Billcliffe). All the chairs rwere eupholstered in blue horsehair in 1985. The Ingram Street Tea Rooms were purchased by Glasgow Corporation in 1951 for £25,000 and were then rented out as various shops and warehouses.

Fragments of lampshade(s) for Library, Glasgow School of Art
The library was destroyed by fire on 23 May 2014, though many metal and glass fragments from the lights were subsequently salvaged. Originally, and according to Mackintosh’s preparatory sketches, there were thought to be 53 individual lights in the library, each with punched holes in the inner reflectors which allowed light to pass through blue and purple glass. The central array was made up of 12 small canisters attached to the light frame on the ceiling, with eight medium pendants and five large pendants hanging below. There were an additional twelve medium canisters attached to the coffered ceiling both above and below the library balcony, making 24. Originally there were also four additional medium hanging pendants in each of the south and western window bays, though these four lights, and the medium canister in the librarians office, had all been removed before the fire in 2014, meaning there were 48 in the library. This small selection of salvaged lights fragments has been retained as evidence of the fire tragedy. These fragments are also surplus to the needs of Rodney French of Lonsdale and Dutch, Edinburgh who has been tasked with reconstructing the entire set of library lights, whilst reusing as much of the surviving fragments as possible.

Dressing Table for Guthrie and Wells
This item was lost in the fire in The Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School of Art on 23rd May 2014. Designed for Guthrie and Wells, Glasgow. This and others pieces of green stained furniture made by Guthrie and Wells, were collected by William Davidson for his house Gladsmuir and later in Windyhill. Guthrie and Wells, originally founded as a painting and decorating firm by J and W Guthrie, who entered into partnership with Andrew Wells in 1895, played an important role in the history of decor and design in Glasgow. They were the most important of the stained glass studios emerging in Glasgow in the 1890s, supplied furniture, glass, mosaics etc and had a reputation for first class craftsmanship and always employed excellent designers. This item was assessed for conservation in 2010 as part of the Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project (2006-2010).

Designed for 120 Mains Street, Glasgow and also for the Luncheon Room, Argyle Street Tea Rooms, Glasgow. Stylistically, the most advanced piece of furniture designed for Argyle Street and used by Mackintosh again in his own flat. The examples in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the V&A in London were formerly in the GSA collection and donated by Douglas Percy Bliss, GSA director, in 1958. 'This large table may well have been designed for meetings of the Board of Governors, who rarely used the original Board Room which was eventually taken over as a studio. It was designed with two high backed armchairs and twelve low backed armchairs and was photographed in 1910 in the new Board Room which Mackintosh had provided for the Governors, and not in the Director's Room for which it was designed. The square is again the dominant motif in this group of designs. The table legs are square, but they are hollow, and square cut outs in them indicate the construction.' (Roger Billcliffe). Armchair for Argyle Street Tea Rooms
Designed for the Argyle Street Tea Rooms, Glasgow. One example appears in contemporary photographs of the Luncheon Room, but several others, possibly used in the ground floor apartments at Argyle Street, have survived. (Roger Billcliffe). The pierced motif in the side panels is the same as in the oval back-rail chair, MC/F/14. In a sketch the same chair but with a slightly taller back is used in a bedroom design (repro. Alison as principal bedroom, Westdel, Queen's Place, 1901). It is quite possible this chair was used in other commissions besides Argyle Street.

Designed for use in Mackintosh's own flat in Mains Street, Glasgow. This piece does not appear in any of the contemporary photographs of the main bedroom at 120 Mains Street. As it was not painted white (like the rest of the main bedroom suite) it was probably intended for the spare bedroom, but it does not appear to have been designed as part of a suite.

Wall clock for Glasgow School of Art
It is likely that there was once a wooden clock in this room, Studio 42. However at some point in history the clock itself seems to have disappeared to be replaced by a stencilled clock dial painted directly onto the studio wall. An original (c.1910) dial mechanism complete with clock hands was then accommodated by means of a hole cut into the wall at the centre of the stencilled dial, where it was then linked up to the other clocks in the electrical circuit.

Lampshade for 78 Southpark Avenue
One of a number of shades designed for Mackintosh's flat at 78 Southpark Avenue, Glasgow. Mackintosh used a number of these lampshades in his flat at Southpark Avenue which he bought in 1906 and photos of the interiors show them hanging in the dining room and the drawing room and studio. They are just slightly different versions of the fittings used at Mains Street (originally made for gas) which can be seen hanging in clusters of four in the Annan photos of the drawing room and studio and the bedroom. About 1919 William Davidson bought the Southpark Avenue flat and some of its furniture from the Mackintoshes, on his death Glasgow University bought it from his sons Hamish and Cameron who presented much of the furniture that had been used in it.
