Hugh R Haddow is commemorated on The Glasgow School of Art's First World War Roll of Honour but does not appear in the student or staff records.

Hugh Reid Haddow was born on the 20th of November 1882 in Glasgow, one of two children of Christine Jane Haddow (née Walker) and Walter Haddow, a wine merchant. He is also noted as being from Girvan, Ayrshire. During the First World War, Haddow served as a Captain in the 1/5th battalion of The Royal Scots Fusiliers, which is noted on the Roll of Honour. The London Gazette dated the 20th of January 1914 notes that Haddow became 2nd Lieutenant on the 20th of December 1913. The London Gazette dated the 22nd of September 1914 records Haddow as becoming Captain on the 16th of July 1914. Haddow died on the 12th of July 1915 in Dardanelles, in hospital, having contracted enteric fever, also known as Typhoid fever. His death records were signed by his widow Lizzie (Elizabeth) Haddow (née Shanks) from Denny who he married in Milton, Glasgow in 1913. Haddow is commemorated in a cemetery in Alexandria (Chatby) in Egypt, as well as a family grave in Denny and also on the Girvan War Memorial.
