History
Born on 14 March 1892, Catherine first enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art as an evening student in 1912. Studying in the Drawing and Painting Section, a note in the Register suggests that one of her tutors was Norah Neilson Gray, who taught fashion plate. The following year, she enrolled to study Design, again taking classes as an evening student. After a few years absence, she returned for her final years study in 1918-19. A note in her register entry for that session suggests that her last evening class was studying etching. For her first two years at the School, she lived at two different addresses in Dennistoun. For her final year, she was living on Bath Street. This was a common address for artists at the time and there were several studios there.
