Born on 14 February 1900, Lesley studied Drawing and Painting as an evening student the Glasgow School of Art in 1918-1919. At the time she enrolled at the School, she was employed as a Clerkess and lived with her family at 22 Montgomerie Street in North Kelvinside. Her younger sister Catriona studied with her, following the same course.
