History

Jessie Connor was born on 15 August, 1890 and took evening classes at the GSoA between 1918 and 1920, enrolling in the Drawing and Painting Section. In her second year she also studied pottery. The register records that she worked as a teacher and her address was Merlewood, Bearsden. Teaching seems to have run in the family, the 1920 PO Directory lists a Frederick Connor living at Merlewood, Bearseden who was a teacher at Barrowfield Public school. Presumably this was Jessie's father or an elder brother.
