Allan Pollock McKenzie Buchanan was born in Glasgow in 1889, the son of Maggie Mackenzie and William Mackenzie, a master joiner. He studied architecture at The Glasgow School of Art from 1906 to 1914. Upon the outbreak of World War One he joined the Royal Field Artillery. After the war he re-engaged with Watson, Salmond and Gray, and was admitted ARIBA in the mid 1920s under the war exemption scheme. From 1920 to 1936 he was in partnership with William Ross. He died in 1961. Allan P M Buchanan is listed in the School's World War One Roll of Honour. Also appears on the Glasgow Institute of Architects Roll of Honour (Student).
