Preview 20th of March, 5-7 pm, Open 21st – 29th march 10am-4pm
Past Impressions collates the work of five GSA Sculpture and Environmental Art students responding to items held by the GSA Archives and Collection, exploring themes of mortality, legacy, power structure and the nature of the archive itself.
Selected from Glasgow School of Art’s Sculpture and Environmental Art course as part of a residency, Ellie Higgins, Dylan Hope, Lorna Swinney, Martha Tait and Carys Young visit different aspects of the collection from plaster cast figurative forms to real historical characters and the mythologies surrounding them.
Through a range of mediums including sculpture, textile, film and installation, the objects are imbued with a new-found life and purpose, connecting to the idea that an archive is never finished.
