Colin Wild (written as Wilde on the Roll of Honour) was born in Uddingston on the 27th of June, 1896 one of eight children to Catherine T Wild and Charles W Wild. At the age of seventeen Wild began his evening studies of Drawing and Painting at the Glasgow School of Art while working as an Apprentice Photographer. His time at the school was cut short by the outbreak of war when he was enlisted into the Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line where he served at the rank of Private. He died on the 27th of December 1915 in the Battle of Gallipoli as the result of wounds received in action. The location of his grave is unknown and is now remembered on the Helles Memorial.
Wild is commemorated on The Glasgow School of Art's First World War Roll of Honour.
