Archibald Graham Walker was born in Glasgow in 14th June 1897, one of nine children of Margaret Walker (née McKinnon) and James Walker, a plumber. Walker was articled to Stewart & Paterson architects in October 1913, during which time he attended The Glasgow School of Art until 1916 as a student of architecture. His training was interrupted by First World War, where from February 1916 to January 1919 Walker served in the Highland Light Infantry regiment. Walker completed his apprenticeship in September 1920, and remained there as a draughtsman until April 1925, when he was appointed draughtsman to Eric Alexander Sutherland. He was admitted to ARIBA (Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects) in November 1925. Walker married Mary Walker in 1919. He died in 3rd November 1975. Walker is commemorated on The Glasgow School of Art's First World War Roll of Honour.
