History

Elizabeth Rolland was born in 1890 and attended The Glasgow School of Art for the academic year 1914 to 1915. She resided in Garfield, Bothwell, which is south-east of Glasgow.

Rolland attended Saturday classes in Drawing and Painting, which were led by James Gray, the Chief Instructor of the Saturday school. Gray specialised in Life Drawing and Antique and Preparatory Life, so it is possible that Rolland studied one of these subjects.

Not much else is known about Rolland and her artistic career. We do know that she was originally enrolled at The School for the academic year 1913 to 1914, however a line through her name in the register suggests she did not in fact take up her studies that year and chose to defer her place.
