This collection contains:

• Original and typescript of Christine Shaw's diary, Jan 1940-Dec 1940
• Photographs taken in the grounds of Glasgow School of Art featuring fellow students Carlo Rossi, Joe O'Donnell, Christine Cramond, Charlie McNamee and Nita Begg [c1940]
• Presscutting featuring fellow students Leonard Clegg, Christine Cramond and Tony Brook preparing a decorative paper figure for the GSA Christmas Ball, 1940

A variety of loose artworks, cover designs, correspondence, ephemera, and photographs completed by and belonging to Archibald Haswell Miller. The collections includes proofs for book covers and pamphlets, personal correspondence relating to his studies and subsequent career, different ephemera relating to Haswell Miller's student days and photographs of artworks and students and staff members of The Glasgow School of Art.

This collection also includes material relating to Georges-Marie Baltus (DC 098/2) , including photographs of his artworks and his Italian and European trips, and Francis H. Newbery (DC 098/3).

Some of this material is currently uncatalogued and therefore not accessible for researchers. The collection is divided into two smaller series: Glasgow School of Art press cuttings, 1864- Charles Rennie Mackintosh press cuttings, 1968-

Includes two photocopies of newspaper clippings and one original. Clippings talk about Valerie Bloomfield-Ambrose, her life, her art, and about another student's work that Valerie had sent Veronica Matthew. Includes written annotations by Valerie or Veronica.

Nine different newspaper clippings ranging from May 21, 2000 to December 30, 2019. Include a range of topics surrounding Alasdair Gray including reviews of his book "Lanark", personal interviews, him leaving his post at the University of Glasgow, exhibitions celebrating his life, an advertisement of a new book of his, an art showing of his, and finally his obituary. Newspaper companies range from the Sunday Herald, Herald Magazine, and Sunday Times. Includes a few annotations including dates and topics on some of the clippings by Veronica Matthew. Most include images of Alasdair and his art. One of the nine clippings is a photocopy of a newspaper clipping but the remainder are all originals. Comes in a brown paper folder with "Alisdair's card. 2 / newspaper articles relating to / Lanark + Alisdair".

The photograph features Archibald Haswell Miller and Josephine Haswell Miller alongside a group of males and females.

The supporting text reads "A group at the meeting of the Governors of the Glasgow School of Art this week, when Mr John D. Revel (centre), of Chelsea, was introduced to the board on the occasion of his taking up duty.–"Bulletin" Photo." The newscutting is supported by a handwritten map located below it. It offers the list of names and the location of the subjects in the photograph.

The cardboard also displays additional annotations by Haswell Miller: "We accepted him with all kindness and welcome. After a few weeks he called the staff together and practically told us he was going to sack the lot! I anticipated this by accepting the keepership of the National Galleries. Edinburgh. (Not very well qualified but standard were low in 1930)".

The supporting text reads "Yesterday was "touching-up day" for the R.S.W. Exhibition in the M'Lellan Galleries, Glasgow, where our camera man secured this interesting study. The group includes Robert Eadie, Norah Neilson Gray, R. C. Young, James Kay, Haswell Miller, A. M'Bride, J. W. Wright, A. P. Thomson (sitting), Tom Hunt, Miss Raeburn, Arch. Kay, and D. Fulton."

An annotation on the top right corner of the cardboard shows "1928?".

The newscutting features a photograph of Dame Laura Knight with some of the principals inspecting diploma work during her visit to The Glasgow School of Art.

The newscutting informs of the reception and dance that were held at The Glasgow School of Art on the day it was published. The evening entertainment included the presentation of two plays by Francis H. Newbery. It shows photographs of four principals in the plays: Miss J. Cameron, Mr A. G. Crombie, Mr J. C. M'Fayden, and Mr J. Huck.
