Edward Lambert Pratt was born on 17th August 1895 in Greenock, one of 2 children of Annie Ellis Pratt (née Thomson) and John George Pratt, a photographer who later worked as a shipbuilder's clerk. By the age of 15, Pratt was working as an apprentice architect. After the war, Pratt attended at The Glasgow School of Art from 1919 – 1922 studying architecture, for his first 2 years as a day student and in his final year as a part time evening student while working as an architect. During the war, Pratt served as a Second Lieutenant with the Seaforth Highlanders and as a Lieutenant with the Royal Air Force. Edwin Lambert Pratt was an Associate of the Glasgow Institute of Architects and by 1930 a Licentiate of the RIBA. At this time he was living in Essex. He died in March 1965 in Middlesex. Edwin L. Pratt is commemorated on The Glasgow School of Art's First World War Roll of Honour.
