Jessie Brown Jones was born on the 10th of February 1896. She attended evening classes in drawing and painting at The Glasgow School of Art between 1916 and 1919. She was an art student and the Annual School Report tells us that in the 1916-17 session she received a minor travelling bursary to go to London and study for 2 weeks. In the 1917-18 session she received a maintenance bursary of £50. She resided at number 1 Elmbank Drive, Kilmarnock.
