Wedding head dress. Thought to have been designed and possibly also made by either Daisy or Violet Anderson (see DC 022).
The Anderson family
Ivory coloured full length dress in two layers, with a fine gauze silk over silk satin. Braided shoelace straps, fitted bodice and full skirt with decorative flounces. Eighteen covered buttons down back. Some damage through wear and from the metal parts of the buttons. Thought to have been designed and possibly also made by either Daisy or Violet Anderson (see DC 022).
The Anderson family
Cream, synthetic velvet full-length dress coat. High neck, fitted bodice with long sleeves gathered on the shoulder and fastened with three double covered buttons at waist level. An open skirt falls in a narrow A line below with simple edge to edge closing on the front and a shaped central back panel to suggest a train. Badly marked by decay of metal sections of the covered buttons. Believed to have been designed and possibly made by either Violet or Daisy Anderson (see DC 022).
The Anderson family
Short, collarless box jacket made from panels of loosely woven fabric with pink warp thread and yellow, orange, pale blue and lilac silk organza ribbon weft. Panel sections edged with tightly woven cream threads. A band of silk in graduated colours finnishes the inside hem. Very similar to a fabric sample in the Textile Student Work collection believed to be made by Pauline Mcconnachie.

The event was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre on The Glasgow School Of Art campus with performances running daily from the 1st to the 5th of March. The 1986 Fashion Show was held in the Assembly Hall from 10th to 15th March 1986. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes of garments include Egyptian, metallic, wedding, Queen of Hearts, cloaks, formalwear, masks, hats, bright colours, geometry, flamboyant, utility wear. There is also a dress made from Benson and Hedges cigarette packets – the model wearing this dress is smoking on stage. There were also a number of Harris Tweed garments in the show as Harris Tweed ran a design competition that year. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: Embroidery and Weaving; Silversmithing and Jewellery; and Printed Textiles. All the textiles students modelling designed garments for the show. It is believed that this show had a mix of professional models and students. The models were less experienced models from agencies. The set for the show consisted of a garage workshop setting with car and motor parts at the rear and sides of the stage. It was designed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The hair for this show was by Taylor Ferguson. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. Other shows held around this time were however held in the spring, and in the Assembly building or in the Assembly Hall of the Bourdon Building. The film comprises footage of students modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes of garments include rainbow, futuristic, Oriental, Egyptian, ballgowns, stripes, geometry, hats, formal, off-the-shoulder, utility wear, white, accessories, metallic, fantasy, swimwear. The show also features an extravagant period ballgown, designed by Kenny McLellan, which was subsequently shown at the “Young Blood” exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, in November 1983 to January 1984. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured fabric backdrop. The soundtrack for this film was added during the editing phase of the film and contains music which was played at the fashion show. The 1978 Fashion Show was held in the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre from the 24th to 28th April 1978. The film comprises a combination of still images and film footage of students preparing for the show behind the scenes, and modelling on the stage. There is a mixture of men’s and women’s garments. Styles and themes include metallic fabrics, sportswear, bodysuits and off-the-shoulder dresses. Children’s clothes were also modelled in the show although these are not shown in the film. Garments were designed and modelled mostly by students or former students. Indigo Designs also designed evening dresses for the show. Students involved in the show came from a variety of subject areas and years, including: 1st year; Embroidery and Weaving; Textiles; and Graphics. Hair was by the Hely Design Group and shoes were from Ravel. The set for the show consisted of a pale, self-coloured ruched fabric backdrop.
