Papers and photographs of William Meldrum, artist, student at The Glasgow School of Art, Scotland

A number of sketches and photographs of works by William Meldrum. This collection includes figure and illustrative drawings, unique pieces made of seaweed, and a series of monochrome photographs featuring landscape paintings. Most of the items are undated however the dates of creation are presumed to fall between the 1880s and 1920s. A set of typewritten paper by an unknown author dated after 1966, features a brief biography of Meldrum and descriptions of two drawings along with their custodial histories.

William Meldrum tended to work on depicting city views of Glasgow in the early 20th century and landscapes of diverse areas in Scotland. He created multiple pieces of black-and-white photographs on which his paintings have been printed; some of the photographs have identical versions.

A variety of loose artworks, cover designs, correspondence, ephemera, and photographs completed by and belonging to Archibald Haswell Miller. The collections includes proofs for book covers and pamphlets, personal correspondence relating to his studies and subsequent career, different ephemera relating to Haswell Miller's student days and photographs of artworks and students and staff members of The Glasgow School of Art.

This collection also includes material relating to Georges-Marie Baltus (DC 098/2) , including photographs of his artworks and his Italian and European trips, and Francis H. Newbery (DC 098/3).

It was created by Katie Hawson who was a volunteer at The Glasgow School Of Art Archives and Collections in 2013. This poster advertised an exhibition showcasing work by graduating postgraduate fine art students from The Glasgow School Of Art in 1990. The exhibition took place between the 23rd and the 29th of June and was held in the Mackintosh Building. It included work by Alexander Dempster, James Hamlyn, Rachael Harris, Peter McCaughey, Donna Rae, Craig Richardson, Julie Roberts, Andrew Sneddon, Edward Stewart and Catherine Whippey. The photograph on the poster was taken by John Shankie and shows the exhibiting students posing inside the elevator in the Mackintosh Building.
